Willkommen zum ersten „Nerdwut“ Artikel. Die ursprüngliche Idee der Webseite entstand aus einem Streitgespräch zwischen mir und einem Kumpel über diverse Nerdthemen, in „Nerdwut“ Artikeln schreibt diese Redaktion in regelmäßig unregelmäßigen Abständen über ein meist kontroverses Thema, das den Autoren aufregt.
Heute geht es um Company Bashing, dem wütenden Nerds liebster Sport. Manchmal wirkt es auch wie die nerdige Version des „besorgten Bürgers“ der über „die da oben meckert“. Versteht mich nicht falsch, auch ich war schon einmal Teil eines Shitstorms (AC:Unity), aber ich kann es absolut nicht leiden, wenn jedwede Meldung dazu genutzt wird gegen eine spezielle Firma zu schießen. Besonders dann nicht, wenn der Artikel selbst sagt, dass nicht diese Firma Schuld ist, sondern irgendein Zulieferer oder ähnliches.
Company Bashing im Beispiel
Als Beispiel wollen wir uns mal einer Meldung auf Heise-Online widmen, in dieser geht es darum, dass ein Mini-PC nach einem Windows 10 Update unbrauchbar ist, weil ein Treiberupdate über Microsoft ausgeliefert wurde. Der Hardwarehersteller hatte dabei vergessen die Hardware-ID anzupassen und so war es dem Windows Update Dienst unmöglich zu erkennen, dass es sich nicht um das System handelt für, welches das Update bereitgestellt worden ist. Sofort nutzen die Linux-Jünger, Microsofthasser und Trolle der Welt die Möglichkeit um allen klar zu machen, dass sie den Durchblick haben, Microsoft sowieso nur noch ein Informationslieferer an die NSA ist und Linux sowieso um Welten besser ist.
Natürlich ist Windows 10 nicht perfekt, mich stört es auch, dass man als Home User Updates nicht voll kontrollieren lassen kann oder Cortana, die man nicht 100% ausstellen kann.
Das Problem
Die meisten dieser User denken aber nicht weiter. In diesem Beispiel etwa hat der Hersteller geschlampt, dies wird ausgenutzt um darüber zu meckern wie zwingend die Updates doch sind und sie nicht deaktivierbar sind. Man vergisst hier komplett wofür der Mini-PC gedacht ist und zwar hauptsächlich als Media-PC für den heimischen Fernseher, etwas was die meisten User einfach nur anschließen und sofort benutzen wollen. Daher macht man die Firmware-Updates über den Windows Update Dienst und der Anwender muss sich keine Sorgen um eine von ihm falsch durchgeführte Installation machen.
Das Produkt
Des Weiteren vergessen viele dieser Basher, wahrscheinlich absichtlich, dass eine Software wie Windows sehr darauf achten muss, dass DAUs nicht wieder alles kaputt machen und jedem IT-Menschen zu spontanen Interpretationen von „We will rock you“ via Facepalm bringen. Außerdem finden die meisten Leute Updates eher nervig, schalten sie am liebsten komplett ab und öffnen so Hacker und Script-Kiddies Tür und Tor. Ich meine wer würde sich nicht freuen, wenn er in eine Bank einbrechen möchte und die blöde Tür zu den Goldreserven schon offensteht und alle Mitarbeiter sich einen Kaffee holen sind.
Das ganze Company-Bashing ist aber besonders in der Gamingkultur zum Volkssport geworden, manchmal angemessen, oft aber eher daneben. Wirklich hart trifft es dabei die Publisher, sie gelten gemeinhin als das oberste Übel, immer wenn etwas schiefläuft oder ein Spiel nicht wie erwartet ist, beschimpft man wüst besagten Publisher. 2K ist hier ein wunderbares aktuelles Beispiel mit dem 30 fps-lock zum Release von Mafia III. Sollte etwas mal gut laufen lobt man den Entwickler des Spiels.
Kommen wir aber mal zum Punkt, diese ganze Sache geht mir ziemlich auf den Sack. Unter jeder verfluchten Meldung zu Windows 10 lese ich Leute die meinen alle Leute zu Linux konvertieren zu müssen – viel Spaß dabei, meiner Familie Linux beizubringen.
Ich bekomme oft schon graue Haare bei der Erklärung von Dingen wie Word, oder auch Personen die Microsoft als den Antichristen der IT sehen und der Firma die Schuld für sämtliche Fehler in die Schuhe schieben. Vielleicht ist ja nicht der Großkonzern Verursacher des Fehlers, sondern ein kleinerer Hardwarehersteller. Wahrscheinlich ändert man bestimmte Parameter oder Zugriffsrechte, weil man eine Sicherheitslücke sieht. Wer dann noch meckert, dass seine ach so geliebte, veraltete und nicht mehr supportete Banking-Software jetzt nicht mehr funktioniert möge sich doch bitte an die eigene Nase packen und fragen, ob nicht das Unternehmen, sondern man selbst das Problem ist.
