Wer Rollenspiele liebt, der hat in der jetzigen Zeit eine riesige Auswahl an Themen zur Verfügung.
Sei es Fantasy mit The Elder Scrolls oder der Witcher-Reihe, 2. Weltkrieg mit Wolfenstein, Post-Apokalypse mit Fallout 4, etc. pp.
Auch als Liebhaber von MMORPG’s wird man von der Gaming-Industrie nicht alleine gelassen.
Jedoch habe ich persönlich einige Probleme mit MMORPG’s, die ich euch in diesem Artikel, am Beispiel der The Elder Scrolls-Reihe, ein wenig erläutern will.
Warum Ich RPG’s liebe
Ich liebe das Gefühl im Charakterdesign-Menü eines neuen RPG’s zu hängen um mir einen Helden zu erstellen, der mich über die nächsten Wochen im Spiel verkörpern wird.
Dabei mache ich mir unzählige Gedanken, wie ich meinen Charakter spielen will und was er ausdrücken soll. Ich überlege mir meine ersten Schritte im Game und male mir aus wie es sein wird, wenn ich mich schon weit im End-Game befinde.
Kurz: Meine Vorfreude ist riesig!
Sobald ich dann ins Game einsteige und die ersten Quest’s erledige, wachse ich immer weiter mit meinem Charakter zusammen und fange an, wie er zu denken.
Wenn ich z.B. auf dem Rückweg von der Arbeit bin oder auf der Arbeit eine ruhige Minute habe, denke ich darüber nach, was ich als nächstes unternehmen soll.
Ich denke an meine Feinde im Spiel und spüre den Hass auf sie. Genauso denke ich ebenfalls an meine Verbündeten und ich bin etwas besser drauf.
RPG’s die dabei dann auch noch mit einer fabelhaften Geschichte und einer unfassbar detaillierten Spielwelt glänzen, die können dann auch schon mal mein Leben über Wochen bestimmen.
Solche Spiele prägen meine Gamer-Seele.
Ich denke dabei nur allzu gerne an The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion zurück (wer es noch nicht gespielt hat: zuerst schämen – dann kaufen und leben). Dieses Spiel beschreibt für mich das, was ein gutes RPG ausmacht.
Das Hauptspiel alleine hat mich mehrere Wochen lang beschäftigt und mir das Rollenspiel-Genre viel näher gebracht. Überwältigt hat mich dann jedoch das unfassbar gute DLC mit dem Namen „Shivering Isles“. Sheogorath ist immer noch der beste Verrückte in einem Spiel überhaupt. Umso mehr hat es mich gefreut, ihn in Skyrim wieder zu treffen.
Ihr seht, The Elder Scrolls hat meine Gamer-Seele geprägt. Dieses Genre hat mich sehr darin beeinflusst, was für Games ich heute zocke.
Und es ging noch weiter. Ich habe angefangen mir ein Elder Scrolls zu wünschen, indem ich mit Freunden zusammen durch Cyrodil reisen kann und (ja tatsächlich) auch, dass man irgendwie Kaiser werden kann. Ein The Elder Scrolls, das eine noch größere Spielwelt hat und noch detaillierter ist als seine Vorgänger..
..UND DANN KAM THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE…
…ein Spiel von dem man sagen kann, dass es viele, wenn nicht gleich alle Punkte umsetzt die ich mir gewünscht hatte.
Jedoch hat es mich nicht überzeugt. Ich konnte diese andersartige MMORPG-Welt nicht mit dem Gefühl verbinden, dass ich empfinde, wenn ich Oblivion oder Skyrim spiele.
Nicht das ESO ein schlechtes Spiel ist, es hat mich aber einfach als The Elder Scrolls an sich nicht überzeugt.
Es ist ein MMORPG und so spielt es sich nun mal auch.
Wo liegt da aber der große Unterschied?
Nun, die Unterschiede sind ja zuerst klar im HUB oder der generellen Interface-Übersicht zu erkennen. Auch das Gameplay ist anders.
Man hat nun bestimmte Fähigkeiten die man anwenden kann und skillen muss. Schaut man sich World of Warcraft oder Star Wars: The Old Republic an, erkennt man direkt den Geist des MMORPG’s.
Durch diesen Geist geht The Elder Scrolls jedoch ein gewaltiger Teil seiner Besonderheit verloren.
Wo Ich früher durch eine Stadt lief und mich dank der NPC wie in einer richtigen Stadt gefühlt habe, da fühle ich mich heute wie auf einem TS-Server mit verschiedenen Chat-Rooms. Also ein Server auf dem viele Leute sind, aber alle nicht mit einander kommunizieren. Und wenn sie es tun, dann so das es nicht dem Gefühl von The Elder Scrolls entspricht.
Klar inhaltlich sind es immer noch Geschichten im The Elder Scrolls Universum. Fabelhaft und ohne gleichen.
Das wird aber komplett durch das andere Spielgefühl verdrängt.
Es fühlt sich für mich nicht mehr danach an, als ob ich ein episches Abenteuer erlebe, es ist einfach das typische looten und leveln ala WoW. Nicht mehr das Erlebnis steht im Vordergrund.
Dieser Fakt sorgt dafür, dass ich immer wieder lieber auf Oblivion oder Skyrim zurückgreife, anstatt The Elder Scrolls Online zu spielen.
The Elder Scrolls Online ist ein gutes Spiel, als MMORPG eines der Besten zurzeit würde ich behaupten. Aber es ist nun mal leider dadurch kein vollwertiges Rollenspiel, kein vollwertiges The Elder Scrolls mehr.
Deshalb brauchen wir ein neues The Elder Scrolls! Das darf es dann aber nur mit Singleplayer Kampagne oder im Koop geben.. das scheint ja neuerdings wieder in Mode.
