Early Access, Battleroyal, ehemaliger Arma Mod – ich kann spüren wie mein Mitautor Philippe grün anläuft, während ich diese Schlagworte an den Anfang packe. Aber wovon rede ich hier eigentlich? Das heutige Augenmerk will ich auf das Spiel „Playerunknown’s Battleground“ des südkoreanischen Entwicklers/Publishers Bluehole legen. Veröffentlicht wurde das Spiel am 27. März 2017 im Early Access via Steam zu einem Preis von rund 30€.
Neben Bluehole steckt hinter dem Spiel Battle-Royal Urgestein Brendan Greene. Dieser war schon am Battle Royal Mod für Arma, sowie an H1Z1: King of the Kill beteiligt. Worum dreht es sich bei diesem Spiel?
Manchmal reicht auch das minimal Prinzip mit einem guten Squad.
Bleib am Leben!
Fassen wir kurz zusammen, eine 8x8km große Insel, unzählige Waffen und 100 Teilnehmer, die auf ebenjener Insel abgeworfen werden, mit nur einem Ziel – Überleben! Sollte man nicht alleine gegen 99 Gegner antreten wollen, kann man sich im Duo oder Squad mit bis zu drei weiteren Spielern zusammenschließen. Das einzige Ziel bleibt das ausschalten anderer Spieler und als letzter zu überleben. Gegen euch sind hierbei nicht nur die anderen Spieler, sondern auch die Insel, deren aktiver Spielbereich sich immer weiter verkleinert. Die Minimierung des Terrains zwingt alle Überlebenden dazu, sich auf immer engerem Feld zu bekriegen. Erschwert wird dies noch durch den ab und zu einsetzenden Bombenregen, welcher euch das Leben ebenfalls zur Hölle macht. Wer liebt es nicht, wenn einem plötzlich etwas auf den Kopf fällt und dazu noch explodiert.

Knapp vorbei ist leider auch daneben.
Der Frustfaktor ist hierbei eklatant, wenn du zum 10ten Mal am Tag aus dem Hintergrund von einer schallgedämpften Kar98k aus dem Leben gepustet wirst. Das ein oder andere Mal habe ich schon wütend auf meinen Schreibtisch eingeprügelt, wenn ich in der finalen Zone durch meine eigene Unaufmerksamkeit verloren habe. Danach laufe ich kurzfristig schnaufend im Flur auf und ab, um dann die nächste Jagd nach dem wohlschmeckenden Chicken Dinner zu starten. Dazu kommen noch die teilweise laggenden Server und Gegenspieler, die dich per Ingame Voicechat auslachen, nachdem sie dich getötet haben. Bevor ich mit PUBG angefangen habe, verbrachte ich schon einige Stunden im Arma3 Mod Exile, der eine ähnliche Spielmechanik mit sich bringt, jedoch ohne sich verkleinernde Zone und mit Respawn.
Early Access Sumpf oder Hoffnungsträger?
Bloß nicht den Kopf verlieren..
Natürlich handelt es sich bei PUBG um einen Early Access Titel, welcher noch einige Bugs mit sich bringt, doch die regelmäßigen Updates am Donnerstag lassen auf einiges hoffen. Mittlerweile habe ich knappe 220 Stunden Waffen suchend, vor der Zone wegrennend und mich im Nah- sowie Fernkampf mit Gegnern bekriegend verbracht. Nichts ist dabei befriedigender, als wenn man mit 120km/h auf einen Gegner zu rast, von seinem Motorrad abspringt und diesen mit einer schallgedämpften UMP aus dem Leben rotzt. Schnell noch kurz den noch dampfenden Körper durchsuchen und alles an sich reißen, was einem selber helfen könnte und dann wieder davon jagt. Stets die Umgebung beobachtend und mit einem Auge auf der Minimap, um zu verfolgen, wo die Zone mich als nächstes hin zwingt.
Persönlich bin ich sehr begeistert von dem Spiel und hoffe, dass es nicht im Sumpf der nie fertig gestellten Early Access Titel versinkt. Ich hoffe, dass die Ankündigungen bezüglich neuer Waffen und Karten eingehalten wird und so die Langzeitmotivation erhalten bleibt. Bis dahin werde ich weiter meine Runden auf dem Schlachtfeld drehen und hoffen, dass das ein oder andere Chicken Dinner den Weg auf meinen Teller findet. Vielleicht begegnet man sich ja mal.
