Es ist wieder E3 Time und ihr wisst, was das bedeutet: Erwarten, hoffen und überraschen lassen. Schließlich ist die E3 die größte Spielemesse der Welt und bietet eine Menge Potenzial für eine perfekte Präsentation, bzw. für sagenhafte Magic Moments. Den Anfang hat nun Electronic Arts gemacht und ich erzähle euch, warum es einer der besseren Pressekonferenzen von EA war.
Gewohnter Einstieg
EA fing die Pressekonferenz mit einem peinlichen Live Act wieder an, wo einige als Football Spieler verkleidete Männer auf ein paar Trommeln klatschen, um somit den neuen Story Modus für Madden NFL anzukündigen. „Long Shot“ nennt sich der neue Modus und wird sich höchstwahrscheinlich dem Story Modus von FIFA sehr stark ähneln.
Danach gab es zum lockeren Einstieg in die Ankündigung und Präsentation des neuen Battlefield 1 DLC’s „In the Name of the Tsar“, welches uns an die kalte Ostfront des 1. Weltkriegs befördern wird. Hierbei sei es wichtig, die Russen als neue Fraktionen zu erwähnen. Zur Ankündigung wurde ein kleiner Mittschnitt aus unterschiedlichsten Meinungen der Battlefield Community gezeigt, unter welchem auch unser bekannter Fabian Siegismund dabei war.
Desweitern gab es eine Ankündigung für die Gamescom, dass EA nun auch Esportler weiter fördern will und deswegen auf der Gamescom, FIFA und Madden Turniere veranstalten möchte.
Apropos FIFA, das wurde prompt mit einem Trailer auf der großen Bühne angekündigt. Dafür hat man sich dieses Mal Christiano Ronaldo für das Motion Capturing geholt. Sprich bessere KI, bessere Pässe, besseres Gras etc. etc., wie wir es von EA Sports eben gewohnt sind. Außerdem soll die Story, um Alex Hunter erweitert werden. In „The Journey: Hunter Returns“ spielt ihr die Fortsetzung, der in FIFA 17 angefangen Geschichte von Alex Hunter. Hierbei sei erwähnt, dass der Trailer von einigen Titanen des Fußballs aufgebauscht wird, unter anderem Thomas Müller, Pep Guardiola etc.
Auch das neue Need for Speed bekam man zu Gesicht. Allerdings muss man gestehen, dass „Need for Speed Payback“, mehr wie ein Spiel zu Fast and Furious aussieht, anstatt ein echtes Need for Speed zu sein. Das wäre zwar zu verkraften, wenn nicht das Gameplay so verdammt langweilig aussehen würde, aber man hatte bekam bei der Demo, die sie zeigten, mehr das Gefühl ein weiteres Hot Pursuit oder Burnout mit Split/Second Elementen zu sehen. Man fragt sich schon, wo die Innovation steckt, wenn man Need for Speed extra mehr Zeit zum Entwickeln gibt. Eines ist sicher, was man bisher gesehen hat bringt keinem einzigen Need for Speed Fan zum Schreien.
Die Überraschung des Abends
Interessant wurde es erst ab dem zweiten Drittel der Pressekonferenz. Mit der Ankündigung zu „A way out“, eines neuen IP’s von EA, gelang es dem Publisher die volle Aufmerksamkeit der Zuschauer zu erlangen und sie zeitgleich zu überraschen. Denn „A way out“ ist der Hit der Pressekonferenz gewesen. Ein Spiel, welches sehr mutig wirkt und eine Menge Potential bietet. Denn es ist ein Spiel, welches einzig und allein im Coop gespielt werden kann, sei es online mit jemand anderen oder per Split Screen, welcher sich dynamisch anpassen und verändern wird. Allein die Idee ist so faszinierend, dass man mehr von diesem Spiel sehen wollte. Wie es scheint, könnte „A way out“ tatsächlich eine Marktlücke füllen, denn Couch Coop ist zum ersten Mal nicht einfach nur ein Feature, sondern elementarer Bestandteil der Story.
Und es ging außergewöhnlich weiter. Das neuen Entwickler Studio Seed (steht für „Search for Extraordinary Experiences Divison) ist ein neues Studio, welches nicht einfach nur ein Spiel entwickeln soll, damit es erfolgreich wird, sondern eben neue Experimente wagen soll, um neue spielerische Erfahrungen zu bieten. Ebenfalls dürfen sie neue Technologien entwickeln, um das Gaming zu verbessern und dürfen im Grunde genau das machen, was EA im Jahre 2008 getan hat. In neue IP’s, wie Dead Space und Mirror‘s Edge investiert, um neue spielerischer Erfahrungen zu bieten. Nun soll eben dieses neue Studio Seed, dieser Erwartungen erfüllen, ohne jeglichen Gewinndruck zu haben.
Kaum war die Verkündung des neuen Studios Seed draußen, schon hat man auch die Kooperation mit Microsofts neuer Konsole „Project Scorpio“ angekündigt. Spiele wie Madden NFL sollen demnach auch in nativem 4K laufen und somit eine absolut klare Grafik bieten. Dementsprechend zeigt EA dann, im Zuge dieser neuen Strukturierung, auch das neue Spiel von Bioware „Anthem“, welches ebenfalls eine neue IP sein wird. Tatsächlich ist es überraschend, wie EA eine neue IP nach dem anderen ankündigt, denn von Anthem werden wir dann heute von Microsoft mehr zu Gesicht bekommen. Und das Beste kommt noch: Es sollen laut Patrick Söderlund (EVP, EA Worldwide Studios) noch weitere neue IP’s für die Scorpio in Arbeit sein. Sollte dies sich bewahrheiten, hat Microsoft somit ein Repertoire an neuen Spielen für die neue Xbox.
Gibt ihnen Star Wars
Dies war’s dann auch schon fast für EA. Es wurde noch ein neues NBA Live angekündigt, welches nun zwei Ligen anbietet. Einerseits könnt ihr in der ganz normalen Basketball Liga weiterspielen, aber nun könnt ihr auch in einer Art Straßen Liga spielen, wo ihr in FIFA Street Manier um euren Respekt spielt.
Zu guter Letzt kam noch Star Wars Battlefront II, welches heiß von uns ersehnt wird. Ehrlich gesagt hat es mich auch ziemlich fasziniert Battlefront 2 zu sehen, denn es scheint tatsächlich so, als habe DICE auf die negative Resonanz der Fans reagiert und hat aus Star Wars Battlefront II ein völlig neues Spiel kreiert, was mit dem Vorgänger nur noch vom Namen und Setting her noch Gemeinsamkeiten hat. Allerdings wurde nichts Neues dazu angekündigt. Interessant ist nur der neue Modus zu nennen, welcher ein Mix aus Walker Assault, Rush und Capture the Flag wird. Ansonsten wurde vieles gesagt, was schon vorher bekannt war: Dass es eben einen Singleplayer geben wird, ein neuen Klassensystem und natürlich, dass man nun im Multiplayer alle drei Epochen der Star Wars Geschichte spielen darf. Es gab zwar Gameplay von der Schlacht von Theed zu sehen, allerdings hat man dies, wie ein Esport Turnier aufgezogen, was eher störte, statt zu unterhalten. Denn DICE ist dafür bekannt sehr chaotische Schlachten zu inszenieren, weswegen es äußerst schwierig war, dem Gameplay zu folgen.
Unterm Strich bleibt Battlefront II für mich ein Must Have Titel, da ich unbedingt die Klonkriege wieder miterleben möchte und auch weil meiner Meinung nach Star Wars Battlefront II bisher am ehesten an die Erwartungen eines Battlefront III, was wir Hardcore Fans uns bis heute wünschen, rankommt. Es bleibt nur fraglich, wo denn die anderen Star Wars Spiele bleiben. Hatte doch ein Visceral letztes Jahr noch ein paar Sekunden veröffentlicht, bekamen wir dieses Jahr nicht ein einziges Wort darüber zu hören. Ebenso ist fraglich, welches Spiel Respawn Entertainment nun unter der Star Wars Flagge entwickelt.
Fazit: Es war tatsächlich eine der besseren E3 Pressekonferenz von Electronic Arts. Vor allem hatte man die weniger interessanten und üblichen Sachen von EA schon im ersten Drittel durch. Somit hatte man mehr Zeit die neuen IP’s und das neue Studio Seed anzukündigen. Spannend bleibt auch die Microsoft Pressekonferenz, wenn die neuen Titel, wie Anthem beim Reveal der Xbox Scorpio gezeigt werden. Wir bleiben neugierig und geben EA für dieses Jahr einen Daumen nach oben!
